Mobile Oil Change Business and Corporate Office Complex Customers

By Lance Winslow One way to run your small mobile oil change business is to go after the customers who are employees at large corporations. This works well, although can be problematic if you do not set up the way you do business and maintain the schedule properly in advance. But one new comer to the industry writes to ask me a question on the business model and this type of potential customer. Here is the question that our business analyst and future mobile oil change entrepreneur asks; "One thing I can certainly state is that...you or none of your competitors have gone after the nickel and dime biz by concentrating on the large employer populations?? Both here in Ohio and my son out in Las Vegas find that such ops. do not target John & Jane Doe's cars while at work for servicing...why is that? Cost prohibitive...liability lack of employer interest? Hell, I'd sell the ownership on packaging the service as a Benefit...and under WE care about our employees" Incorrect, as indeed there is much competition in mobile change business at Corporate Offices. Additionally having started OilChangeGuys.com, I understand the nickel and dime business at corporate office parks and corporations better than anyone else on the planet and that is not ego talking. There are many reasons why oil changes at big Corporations can be problematic, too many to list here, but our business analyst questioners approach in selling packaging, bundling and marketing as an Amenity like "Standard Parking" is wise. Indeed, that is something we have found positive for Corporations for on-site vehicle washing, auto detailing and Midas Muffler and other companies have also tapped into with their franchisees and networks. Yes, I agree on that. And as far as nickle and dime, I have no problems collecting $1 from 100 rather than $100 from one, with a potential to lose the one and your basket of eggs to boot. Consider all this in 2006. "Lance Winslow" - Online Think Tank forum board. How to Use Your Primary Photo to Attract Women To Your Online Dating Profile

By Teddy Shabba Most guy that I know who participate in online dating so pretty much the same way by looking at all the pictures. If they see something that they like then chances are they will send her email. Unless of course they know what they are doing in which case they will actually read her profile and if she still captures his attention he will send her an email based on her profile. Women for the most part do it the same way except without sending the email unless it is extremely well written for her. One simple way to attract women online is to change your profile's primary picture every week. What this does is two things; It gives women you are communicating with and women who have put you in their favorites list something new and fresh to look at.It gives women who weren't that impressed with last week's photo a new opportunity to find your photo attractive.Lets face it all photos aren't created equal and many times it simply comes down to how a person is looking at the picture. What's a great picture for you might be alright to me and vice versa even when looking at the same person. When you change your primary photo every week, women can't help but to look at it as a new photo and new profile that you have. Another thing to remember about your primary photo is never ever put a picture of you shirtless as your primary photo, no matter how incredible your physique. When a man or a woman has a shirtless or very revealing primary photo it tells the world that you are a helpless and insecure human being that believes all you have to offer is your body. Now, for women this can work because lets face it for a lot of men looks is 90% of the equation, so even if she offers you nothing else you are still looking at an A-. However, for men this rarely works because not too many women find insecure and helpless attractive long or short term. Bottom line is the more you change your primary photo online the more opportunities you will create for yourself to attract women online. Give me a Referral any Day - the Power of Networking

By Keith Watson I nearly panicked recently! Well, maybe a slight exaggeration but here was a situation I had not been in for some time. The freezer had broken down and the dilemma I faced was a speedy solution was necessary BUT I did not know anybody who repairs freezers. For the first time in some years I nearly reached for the Yellow Pages a pristine copy that never sees the light of day but sense prevailed and I consulted my wife. She rang her friend who works in a local hospital. They have an internal communication system for the employees to ask questions or post messages and within 30 minutes we had the choice of three prospective service engineers and one name had been suggested by three separate people. The choice was simple and yes Mr Freezerman turned up and was superb! The point is that we prefer to buy from traders who have been recommended and preferably from people we know and trust. Business networking is all about trying to address this situation by ensuring that business owners meet each other frequently and build relationships and trust first, long before any deals are struck. Networking is fast becoming the primary way of sourcing new business, but and this is a big BUT you have to go about networking with the right attitude or it will not work for you. I have been a member of BNI (Business Networking International) for nearly three years and know first hand that it can work for you as I have had many thousands of pounds worth of business as a direct result of being a member. And yet I did not get one meaningful referral for the first few months and was about to give it up as a bad job. I have also seen many new members give up in the early days saying it wasnt for them. The thing is that we were all making the same fundamental mistake we were too concerned with what was in it for us and not thinking how can we help our fellow members. The strapline of BNI is givers gain and the moment I adopted that as my focus everything changed. If I give business to you will want to give me business to me is the message, but the emphasis is on the giving. Referrals are the currency and actively seeking help and support for fellow members becomes second nature after a time. Its simple - it works. Now, BNI is not for everyone and I can understand some of the reasons. The procedures are quite rigid and attendance and time keeping are essential. How many times have I heard new members say it is like being back at school. The vast majority though accept and understand why this disciplined approach works. A newer breed of virtual networking is emerging on the Internet and although there are quite a few large networks, Ecademy is emerging as one of the best business to business websites. It is even more important that the right attitude and approach is adopted if you want to achieve anything for your business through using Ecademy. Ecademy members are encouraged to put 50 keywords describing themselves, write a profile and to submit a photo. The mistake many make when they first join is to use their keywords and profile simply as an advert for their business. The successful networkers have interesting profiles about themselves, their interests, travels, family and amusing anecdotes. Are they missing out by not pushing their business interests? Not a bit of it as there is a link to their website what is the point of another sales pitch. People buy from people they like and trust and the social side of the Ecademy is the important additional ingredient on offer. Within Ecademy there are hundreds of special interest clubs and regionally based groups that give the opportunity for physical meetings to be arranged. It is incredible to be able to go to a meeting with people that you already know a great deal about before you actually meet them. It all leads to a much more honest and open relationship from the off. I cant see how the Yellow Pages can survive in the long run. Give me referred, trusted traders any day. Networking rules and works. Obtaining a Business Loan When Your Credit Rating is Poor

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Rebecca_Game]Rebecca Game Poor credit, unfortunately, is a common problem for many women. Poor credit can happen for a variety of reasons. It can be due to a divorce, when bills weren't paid on time or at all. It can be due to a medical disaster, where bills have piled up so high that paying them has become impossible, and credit scores have dropped accordingly. It can be due to a job loss or lack of income and the inability to pay bills. Whatever the reason, it may also mean that you'll have difficulty obtaining a business loan. However, it doesn't mean that obtaining a loan for your business is impossible or completely out of reach. A bad credit loan may be the key to pulling yourself out of financial problems and getting back on track in order to focus on your business needs. There are many programs and lenders that specialize in bad credit loans. Because someone with poor credit is viewed as a high risk to lenders, business loans for these individuals are virtually impossible to obtain. However, by becoming creative and resourceful, obtaining a bad credit loan for business purposes is definitely possible. - Refinance your home for cash out, or consider a home equity loan.
Most commonly, and probably most easily obtained, a bad credit loan for business purposes can be approved for someone with credit that's not ideal if they are property owners. According to Targetwoman.com, approximately 20 percent of all adults are not able to get a conventional mortgage due to their poor credit rating. If you're one of these individuals, you're not alone. Don't feel completely embarrassed about it, but rather, be aware of it, and search for loan sources that specialize in bad credit loans. Use your home ownership status to your advantage. You'll pay a higher interest rate, but by refinancing your home and getting back on track, you'll have the opportunity to repair your credit by making your payments on time, thus rebuilding your credit and allowing yourself the opportunity to refinance again down the road at a lower interest rate. - Apply for a collateral loan.
Bad credit loans normally require some type of collateral, reassuring the lender that in the event that the loan is not repaid, they won't lose all of the money they loaned. Collateral also puts stress on you to pay your loan payments on time, or risk losing the item(s) that you used for collateral. Signature loans are virtually impossible in which to be approved if your credit is poor. However, a bad credit loan can be obtained by using items for collateral, such as snowmobiles, ATVs, boats, cars, trucks, motorcycles, artwork, or other appraisable items or items in which a fair market value can be given. Obviously, because the value of these items is not as great as for a home, the loan value will be less. However, a small loan can help get your business ideas off the ground, and will allow you the opportunity to rebuild your credit so that future loans will be more easily obtained. As with mortgages, though, search for a lender specializing in bad credit loans. - Ask a friend or relative to cosign on a loan.
If your credit is poor and you don't have collateral and you don't own a home, options are not as widely available for bad credit loans. However, if you have a friend or relative that trusts you to repay the loan, another option is to consider asking that person to cosign the loan for you. By cosigning, that person is ensuring the lender that if you are unable to pay the loan yourself, the other person will take over the payments for you. While this offers the lender stability and more of a guarantee that the loan will indeed be repaid in the event that you're not able to keep up the payments, approach this option cautiously. This type of bad credit loan will not work for everyone. In the event that you do not repay the loan, it can ruin a friendship or a relationship with the relative who cosigned on the bad credit loan. - Seek a business investor.
A business investor can often be a good way to bring money into a business as a type of or alternative to a bad credit loan. The money can be brought into the business as a bad credit loan, to be repaid in a given amount of time, or it can allow the investor to obtain partial ownership of the business. Normally, investors are looking to invest large sums into the business to obtain a high return. Developing a business proposal for an investor is usually necessary, but the rewards can be great in certain situations. As with any type of loan, do your homework before applying for a bad credit loan. Consider all options that are available to you, and choose the option that best suits your situation and your business. Strengthening the Grandparent Bond

By Nancy Samalin Grandparents are an important part of every childs life because they can give a valuable gift: unconditional love. A warm, strong bond can enrich the lives of both generations. To succeed, it takes a partnership between parents and grandparents. Both need to respect each others role and keep the childs best interest in mind. The mutual goal should be to encourage the bond between child and grandparent without putting Mom and Dad in an awkward middle position: Some suggestions: Watch out for overindulgence. Its natural for grandparents to drop in, shower gifts on the kids, and then go home. Grandparents need to recognize that this can hurt parents, who need to maintain daily discipline. Before bringing gifts or treats, grandparents could ask if their plan is okay with the parents. If grandparents tend to overindulge a child, parents can let them know how important they are in the childs life, but emphasize that affection and attention are more important than gifts. A parent might say, You dont have to buy Roger a new toy whenever you visit. What he really loves is going to the playground with you. Know the ground rules, but expect some flexibility. If grandparents are lax about enforcing parents rules, parents should remember the priority is to let a child develop a close, lasting relationship with grandparents. This can be difficult if you say, Its time for bed, and Grandpa says, Oh, let her stay up another hour. Its a challenge if both child and grandparent align themselves against a parent, as when Grandma slips a child candy and says, Dont tell your Dad. Grandparents should know what the parents rules are and not undercut them. But theres room for flexibility as long as both parents and grandparents agree in advance. For example, if bedtime is 9 p.m. at home, parents could okay a 10 oclock bedtime when the child visits Grandma on the weekend. It helps to relax some rules when grandparents are around but parents should make it clear ahead of time that this is a special occasion. For example, When Grandpa visits this weekend, you wont have to go to bed quite so early or we may have some special treats we dont usually have. Parents can step out of the way for a while and let child and grandparent enjoy their time together. Watch the criticism. In many families, grandparents still carry old criticisms of their adult child (Youre so unorganized), while parents still hang on to old reproaches from their youth (Youre too rigid) Voicing critical words in front of children can be harmful, especially if the discord focuses on how parents are raising their children. Parents need to accept that many grandparents are unlikely to change. Its best to listen but if the criticism seems unwarranted, reply with a non-committal, Uh-huh. If a grandparent expresses differing opinions about health or food issues, a parent can simply say, The pediatrician said Sometimes parents reject a grandparents directions because they resent the interference, but Grandpa may have some good advice. A useful tactic for parents: Occasionally ask for opinions before theyre offered. Grandparents should remember to keep their advice to a minimum. When it is invited, express it in non-critical words. If its rejected, drop it. Focus on the childs best interests. Its common for grandparents to voice disapproval of a childs dress, language, or behavior. But the bond between them is often damaged because grandparents dont recognize how important their views are to a child. Parents can remind grandparents in a non-confrontational way, I know you dislike the way Suzie dresses, but it hurts her feelings when you comment about it, and she really cares what you think of her. Try not to play favorites. Its impossible to like all children equally, but its important not to show favoritism that hurts a childs feelings. Some grandparents are more comfortable with girls than boys and vice versa, or enjoy older rather than younger kids. Many grandparents may not realize theyre harming the less preferred child. The solution is as simple as becoming aware of the unintended favoritism. If parents or grandparents notice that theyre showering one child with extra attention, try to foster a relationship with the other child by playing games or going to a movie with that child alone. Gradually, the relationship will grow, or another grandparent may step in to show more attention to that child. Build upon common interests. If a grandparent is uninvolved or ignores a grandchild, both parent and child feel hurt. Many parents expect grandparents to be doting, bake cookies, and always be available to babysit, but their lifestyles and personalities dont always fit the parents ideals. Both parents and grandparents need to be aware of these differences, respect them, but at the same time discover ways to strengthen the child-grandparent bond in ways that are comfortable to both. Look for activities suited to the grandparents interests. If Grandpa is an avid golfer, maybe hed enjoy taking the kids to a miniature golf course once in a while. If Grandma loves to read, she could take the kids to the library. Such directed activities enable grandparent and child discover common interests more than simply spending unstructured time at home. Dont give up if your efforts to strengthen the grandparent-grandchild bond seem to stall. Keep trying, but it may take more time until children are older and both generations discover more in common. Two thought to keep in mind: Grandparents, a little spoiling is fine, but dont undercut the childs parents. Parents, sometimes youll need to step out of the way and allow children and grandparents to grow closer by allowing their relationship develop on its own. Eating Well on A Budget

By Barb Keck Eating properly for health on a limited budget is always a challenge. One of the biggest money gobbling culprits is ready made processed and packaged foods and too many trips for fast food. Although theyre quick neither of these ways are cost effective. When it comes to shopping on a shoestring and planning great tasting menus at home youll be surprised how well you can eat following these simple guidelines. 10 healthy ways to keep food costs within budget 1. Make three meals a week without meat and watch your food bill drop. You wont even notice the meat is missing when you experiment and combo flavorful foods for meals. Its easier than you think. Include other forms of protein to complete your required nutrition. 2. Cook regular rice it only takes 10 minutes longer than Minute Rice (which actually takes 5 minutes) and its half the cost. This works for many other products as well. 3. Left over rice, corn or other vegetables? Add it to tomato soup or any other favorite soup the next day. 4. Cook (boil, bake or microwave) enough potatoes to fry or prepare in any other favorite potato dish for your next meal 5. Shop from the outside aisles this is where most of the non-processed foods are. The inner aisles of grocery stores are all packaged and cost more 6. When your favorite vegetables come in season, buy lots. Peppers are easy to freeze no blanching required, just cut in slices, bag them and freeze them. Prices can be 1/3 of what the out of season vegetable costs. 7. To avoid throwing out food you havent used make a plan for the week that includes the foods in your fridge that need to be used before spoiling. This also takes the guess work out of what to have for dinner or lunch every day. 8. Cut your juice down with water. Most juices are heavy with sugar or glucose. Using this idea can make a can of juice last twice as long and cut your sugar intake as well. 9. Plan your weekly menus with tasty meals from your favourite recipes that use inexpensive ingredients. You will be amazed at how this plan helps avoid fast food meals. 10. And of course never shop when youre hungry! Following these 10 ideas will make a big difference to your food bill at the end of each month. Remember there are many meals you can add to your meal plans that won't take much longer than quick cooking foods which cost more. 10 Must Have Gift Ideas For The Wedding Party

By Nathan T. Lynch It is customary to honor your bridesmaids for their participation in your wedding with a gift of appreciation. Traditional gifts include a piece of jewelry such as earrings or a necklace that complements their bridesmaids dress and can be worn on the wedding day but many bridesmaids will truly appreciate a more unique gift idea. With careful consideration you may be able to give your bridesmaids gifts that show your appreciation for their assistance and also demonstrate that you understand their personality as well. One unique gift ideas for your bridesmaids is an evening bag to be used as an accessory on the wedding day. This gift can be a lovely gesture and will serve the purpose of keeping the accessories of the bridesmaids uniform and will free your bridesmaid from the burden of searching for an evening bag that matches the dress. In this case you may choose to give the bridesmaids their gifts early in the wedding planning so that they dont purchase a bag specifically for the occasion of your wedding. A photo album complete with a picture of you and the bridesmaid or the entire wedding party can be another unique gift idea for the bridesmaids. You could purchase photo albums with the date of your wedding engraved on the front cover and start the photo album with a picture of you and the bridesmaid. This is a wonderful gift idea because the bridesmaid can place her photos from the wedding day in the album and will always have a precious souvenir from your wedding day. Gift certificates to a spa or a salon also make unique gift ideas for your bridesmaids. Your bridesmaids most likely spent a great deal of time and energy in helping you to plan your wedding. The week prior to your wedding was also probably especially hectic with a great deal of last minute details to attend to and errands to run. While you will have your honeymoon to relax and renew your energy your bridesmaids do not have this luxury so by honoring them by presenting them with a gift certificate to a spa or salon you are giving them the gift or being pampered and the gift of relaxation. Another popular gift idea for the bride to give the groom is tickets to a sporting event for him and his best friend. This is a truly thoughtful and selfless gift that lets the groom know that you understand his interests and that you want to assure him that you will not try to minimize his relationships with his friends. If your groom is a sports fan, he is sure to enjoy this thoughtful gift. Any item that relates to a specific hobby that the groom enjoys is a great idea for a wedding gift for the bride to give to the groom. This is a popular choice because giving a gift that relates to one of his hobbies demonstrates that you understand his likes and that you want him to continue to engage in activities that he enjoys. Another creative gift idea that a bride may choose to honor her groom with is a short video depicting their relationship together. If the couple used their video recorder often, the bride would be able to edit the video into a concise video and possibly even set the video to music. This creative gift idea gives the groom an easy way to look back into the past and remember the good times that the two of you have had together. Unique gift ideas for the bridesmaids can also stem from the wedding theme. For example if you are having a beach themed wedding you might want to give your bridesmaids a gift of a tote bag, a beach towel and a novel to enjoy on the beach. This unique gift idea ensures that your bridesmaids will remember your wedding fondly the next time they are at the beach. Although the tradition of the bride and groom exchanging gifts on their wedding day is beginning to fade, many couples still wish to honor this tradition. Many couples spend so much money on their wedding and reception that they feel as though they cannot afford the additional expense of buying gifts for each other. While it may be true that the couple cannot afford one more extravagant gift it is also true that a truly thoughtful gift for the groom does not have to be overly expensive. If the couple is partaking in this tradition it is advisable that they exchange gifts that truly reflect the personality of their spouse. What You Should Know About ACT

By Deanna Mascle There comes a time in every college bound person's life when they ask the questions "What is the ACT and how does it impact my future"? A national college admission examination, the ACT consists of subject area tests in English, mathematics, reading, and science plus an optional writing exam. Originally, "ACT" stood for American College Testing. However, in 1996 the official name of the organization was shortened to simply "ACT" to better reflect the broad array of programs and services offered beyond college entrance testing. There are three good reasons to take the ACT: 1. The ACT tests are universally accepted for college admission. 2. The ACT is not an aptitude or an IQ test. Instead, the questions on the ACT are directly related to high school courses in English, mathematics, and science. 3. In addition to the tests, the ACT also provides test takers with a unique interest inventory that provides valuable information for career and educational planning and a student profile section that provides a comprehensive profile of high school work and future plans. In the U.S., the ACT is administered on five national test dates in October, December, February, April, and June. In selected states, the ACT is also offered in late September. The ACT tests are prepared according to the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing, American Educational Research Association, American Psychological Association, & National Council on Measurement in Education (1985); Code of Professional Responsibilities in Educational Measurement, National Council on Measurement in Education (1995); and Code of Fair Testing Practices in Education, Joint Committee on Testing Practices (1988). People of all ages and grade levels are eligible to take the ACT. This includes junior high or middle school students and those who have already graduated from high school. The test includes 215 multiple-choice questions in four subject areas: English-75 questions; Math-60 questions; Reading-40 questions; and Science-40 questions. Plus one writing prompt in the optional writing portion. There are no limitations on how many times you can take the ACT, although there are restrictions on how frequently you can do so. For example, you can test only once per national or state test date, or if you test through non-national testing such as special testing, you must wait a minimum of 60 days between retests. Many students take the test twice, once as a junior and again as a senior. You should definitely consider retesting if you had any problems during the test, such as misunderstanding the directions or not feeling well. You may also want to consider retesting if you aren't satisfied that your scores accurately represent your abilities. Retesting may be a good idea if you see a discrepancy between your ACT scores and your high school grades, or if you have completed coursework or an intensive review in the subject areas included in the ACT since you were tested. Research shows that of the students who took the ACT more than once 55% increased their Composite score on the retest. If you take the test more than once, you control which scores are sent to colleges or scholarship programs. The ACT is an important part of your pre-college admission process. You should learn as much as possible about the exam and prepare yourself well as it can have a tremendous impact on your future college and college program admission. You can learn more about the ACT from the ACT corporation, college admission offices, and high school guidance departments. Deanna Mascle writes about many college, learning and education topics. The Chaser Energy Drink

By Patrick Austin The Chaser 5-hour energy drink is unlike any other energy beverage currently available. In fact, it really shouldnt be categorized with energy drinks such as Red Bull, AMP, and Full Throttle. It isnt something you consume for enjoyment; its strictly for an intense energy kick to help get through those tough days. As most of you probably know, Chaser became famous for helping people deal with hangovers. You pop two of their pills and the aftermath of an intense night of partying will be much easier to handle. The 5-hour energy drink takes a similar approach. Its geared toward people who desperately need a major energy boost and want it to last throughout the day. Hence, the use of the term 5-hour energy. With regards to taste, its decent, but not great. Of course, as stated earlier, this isnt something you consume for enjoyment. Its more like a shot in the arm. In fact, it comes in a small, 2 oz. container that mirrors a shot glass. Its just enough to get your energy reserves back to 100%. The lack of flavor could have something to do with the fact that there are only 15 calories, 0 net carbohydrates, and 0 grams of sugar. Few calories and no sugar usually equates to unenjoyable taste. Overall, the Chaser 5-hour energy drink isnt for someone looking for a tasty caffeinated beverage. However, it is perfect for someone who didnt get alot of sleep and has to face a rough day at work, someone whos looking for an extra kick during a workout or long run, or needs a pick-me-up after a long night of partying or studying. How To Handle College Schedules

By Nic Haffner Do You know what you want to be when you grow up? Chances are, if you ask college freshmen this question, the majority will tell you, 'Undecided.' Most students go into college without a clear idea of what they really want to do with their education. This is the rule rather than the exception. Now, what can be the reason for this? With all the issues you have to worry about your first year of college, deciding what you will study is one of the last to be made. However, with each passing year, this question gets more and more important. While Mom and Dad are shelling out the cash for their kids' education, the kid might be drifting back and forth without a clear plan. There are certain core required classes, no matter what your major. These are basic math, science, history as well as language requirements. If you are just starting college and, like most of your student colleges, undecided, it is a good idea to take these classes. Since you will have to take them anyway, why not can get them out of the way before you need to decide on your major? You may even be able to test out of some of these core classes. There is a test in most schools called the CLEP, which will allow you to skip some of these basic requirements. To give an example, if you are good at math, you can test out of the basic math classes everybody has to take. This way you can prove that you are competent and already know the stuff, and you get to skip right by. Your first semester in college is more about learning your way around campus and college everyday life than learning about math and English. Make an effort to familiarize yourself with the college library, so it will be easy to use when you really need it. The first semester is the time to figure out how to do simple college things. You should learn how to budget your time and meet deadlines, and how to effectively study for tests. Be aware that college isn't like high school! After you have gotten used to things and learned your way around, then you can start thinking about what you really want to do with your life. Very few students - if any - decides at first what they want to do. As a matter of fact, many people change majors halfway through. You will need to take some classes just to see what appeals to you. There is no big hurry. Still, remember that the clock is ticking and you are paying for the time you're in college. It's best to start thinking about it in your second semester or after your first year. This is when you should be getting used to college life. You are a college student now, so it's time to look for where to go next. You will most likely be taking those core classes well into your second year. It is good to get them out of the way as soon as possible. Then, you can spend the later half of your college career working on the classes for your major - what really interests you. But the first thing to do is to get on top of things and take care of those core classes, then think about what direction you will take. When you first land in college, you will have a lot of things to get used to, and nobody expects you to know exactly what you are doing in the beginning. However, remember that the clock is ticking, and you owe it to whoever's paying for your school to set a goal and achieve it. Nic Haffner is a publisher of College and University Search and Info. Making Bath Time Fun and Safe for Your Baby

By Sarah Veda As your baby grows larger, that little tiny counter top bathtub will become a thing of the past. But, putting a baby into a big bathtub can be frightening for both of you. Here are some ideas to make bath time fun and safe for you and your little one. Take a bath together Your baby will love having you play and splash with her, especially if she is a little afraid of the big bathtub. This works best when baby is old enough to sit up on her own, so you dont have to hold her the entire time. Buy a bath ring Bath rings are great for babies who cant sit unsupported just yet, because they keep the baby from slipping down into the water Try an inflatable bathtub Inflatable tubs fit snugly down inside your bath tub. They are soft, with big puffy sides that help keep baby upright. Plus, these tubs make the large tub seem a little smaller and less overwhelming to the baby. I found this to be a great way to transition my children into the big tub. Buy lots of bath toys If your child is a little fearful of the tub, the best way to deal with the fear is to take his mind off it. There are loads of toys for the bath, from a plain old rubber ducky, to battery operated fish that swim around, to paints designed for writing right on the walls. Find the right combination of bath toys, and only let him play with them in the bath, and you should be able to turn bath time into the favorite time of day. Color the water There are some great bath time products that can color your bath water. Children are delighted to be able to pick the color of the bath. Its a great way to teach colors, too! A couple of final words about bath time - be sure you are using childrens bath products. The last thing you want is a child who is already fearful of the bath getting soap or shampoo in his eyes. Plus, adult products can be drying and cause skin irritation. And, never leave baby unattended in the bath, not even for a second. The bath can be loads of fun for your child, but only if its safe, too. Sarah is a 41 year old wife and mother of two boys and one girl. Use the Want Ads to Find Hidden Jobs.

By Joseph Turner And you thought the Want Ads were a waste of time. How many times have
you applied for a job in the want ads only to receive the "Sorry, we'll
keep your resume on file" form letter? Or to find out that you were one
of hundreds of applicants? Today, you'll learn an easy way to use CareerBuilder or other want ads
to find possible hidden jobs. Youll learn how to use those same want
ads to tap into dozens of possible HIDDEN JOBS and find yourself in the
enviable position of being the only applicant for the job you really
want with no other competition! This is simple. Go where others don't go. Just because a company is not
listing a job this week, or this month that you would qualify for, does
not mean they don't need you and won't hire you. Your goal is to find those companies who WERE hiring in the relatively
recent past. Here's what you do: go back 30 days, 60 days and 90 days to find the
companies that listed jobs with your job title and skills, if the
search capability allows this. The reason you are doing this is to be
the first in line when they are ready to hire the NEXT person with your
skills. They could be getting ready to pull the trigger and begin a NEW
search today or next week to: a.) replace the previous person they just hired (and this happens more
often than you think). b.) fill a new position that was just budgeted. c.) replace a person who was just promoted. You have this capability online
with the Careerbuilder section of the newspapers. Unfortunately with
Careerbuilder, you can only go back a maximum of 30 days. An advantage
with Careerbuilder, though, is that they give you a contact name to
follow up with. Add this person's name to your "Follow-up Today" list. With other papers' online want ads, like the Arizona Republic, you can
find listings as far as a year or more back. Otherwise, go to the library and ask a librarian for help in retrieving
this information for you. It may prove to be invaluable. Don't overlook the trade papers such as the Business Journal or other
local civic and trade-related papers in your city. They tend to focus
on business developments, promotions, new hires and legal transactions,
both corporate and civic. Pay attention to the sections on promotions
and new hires. This may reap a reward with the attendant empty spot
left open, the need for another hire due to increased sales activity or
department expansion. Here you also get a contact name to follow up
with. Don't stop there. Also, do the same as above - go backwards 30, 60, and
90 days. You're getting valuable information about which companies are
most likely to be in need of your services at any point in time. You
are also getting a huge leg-up by building your list of names and
titles to follow up with today as well as over the next several weeks. Once again, the key to finding gold in the job search game is to go
where others don't go and to do the things others don't think about
doing, or know how to do. Joe Turner, the "Job Search Guy", makes it easy to quickly land that next job. The Facts on Dog Bite Lawsuits

By K Brandt While dogs may be our best friends, some dogs can become aggressive and bite someone. A dog bite falls under the law in the personal injury category. Each state has various laws regarding the liability of the dogs owner. Following are things you should do if you are bitten by a dog. Dogs that bite can do it for a number of reasons. Perhaps the dog has always had an aggressive nature and perceives you as an unwanted stranger. Historically, there are certain breeds that have been known to harbor aggression. The Pit Bull breed is a common example. The dogs breed is only one factor and doesnt always mean the dog will be aggressive and prone to biting. You might encounter a dog that has been healthy in the past and free from offensive behavior. However, now the dog has suffered from a health illness such as rabies. Rabies can cause dogs to become disoriented and lash out by biting people. A classic sign of rabies is drooling and foaming of the mouth. If you are bitten it is imperative that you have your bite checked out at the hospital as soon as possible. Dogs can be a host to several bacterial and viral infections that you can contract such as ring worm. Make sure however, that you remember the type of breed to help a doctor assess the extent of the wound. Write down the contact information of the dogs owner should you need to file a lawsuit. Dog bite lawsuits arise when the dog bite is serious enough to cause injury, mental aggravation, and hospital bills. It was beneficial that you wrote down the dog breed and the dog owners contact information because you will need it when filing a dog bite lawsuit. Should you choose to file a dog bite lawsuit, you will need to contact an attorney to understand your rights and requirements for filing. An attorney will explain the specific dog bite lawsuit laws in your state. It is good to know that the majority of states hold the dogs owner liable for any dog bites. It will also need to be determined if the owner had prior knowledge of the dogs aggression. This is termed dangerous propensities. Did the owner know in advance that their dog was of a certain breed that is prone to biting? Did they provide the required safeguards to control this unwanted behavior in their dog? Additionally, some states have enacted legislation that involves strict liability. The owner is liable for their dogs actions whether they knew the dog was dangerous or not. Anytime their dog bites someone they are held liable no matter the situation or circumstances. On the flip side of the coin is to view this from the dog owners perspective. Lets say the dog owner had prior knowledge that their dog may be dangerous or may bite someone. The owner then took protective measures to keep his dog in a secure area. He also had placed Beware of Dog signs on his property and has warned others not to approach his dog as the dog may attack. The owner had done all this, but someone didnt listen or even provoked the dog on purpose. If the owner has provided these safety precautions they are sometimes not liable due to contributory negligence. Contributory negligence means that the person who was bitten understood the dangerousness of the animal, but proceeded to place themselves in the dogs environment anyway. This type of dog bite lawsuit often ends in favor of the dog owner. If you do file a dog bite lawsuit you can sue for compensation regarding medical costs you will incur due to the dog bite, pain and suffering, property damage, and affected wages. A vicious dog bite can leave you unable to work for some time and you need a way to recoup your losses. You can also be awarded punitive damages in some cases. Whether or not you are awarded punitive damages depends on the behavior of the dogs owner. Did the owner intentionally provoke their dog and put you in the line of fire? If so, the dog owners behavior will be punished by granting you an additional punitive damages settlement. If you suffer from a dog bite you can rest a little easier knowing that many health insurance plans cover costs associated with dog bites. Hopefully, you wont ever have to deal with a dog bite and dog bite lawsuit. Understand though that if you are bitten by a dog you do have legal claims. The extent and nature of the legal claims vary from state to state, but the basic guidelines have been discussed in this article. Consult an attorney that has worked on dog bite lawsuits in the past to figure out the best course of action. The Rex Files: Your Dog and The Law

By Emma Snow Every year 5 million dog bite reports are filed. Over $1 billion are paid in losses. Reacting to complaints, city councils are passing ever more ordinances that affect dog ownership. Neighborhood, rental complexes, and home owners associations are including rules for regulating pets within their boundaries. Even insurance companies are putting in their two cents worth when it comes to our furry family members. While it's not always a top concern for many dog owners, it's definitely in your best interest to be aware of the legal implications of owning a pet. Considering that animal laws are not usually a result of state or federal battles (contrary to that portrayed in Legally Blonde 2), but rather the consequence of neighborhood squabbles turned complaints to local governments, it's the duty of a pet owner to be aware of possible nuisance factors and train your dog to be a good canine citizen, to prevent confrontation or the threat of litigation. To start, you should become acquainted with the state and county laws as well as the pet-related ordinances in your city. These vary from location to location, and can often be found on the internet. These rules encompass such things as licensing and tagging your pet, leash laws, limits, vaccination requirements, breeding restrictions, and areas where no dogs may be allowed. While most governments have found it unconstitutional to ban specific breeds, you may want to check your home owner's insurance policy in case they charge a fine for more "aggressive" breeds such as pit bulls and rottweilers. Keep in mind that just because there's not a law against something, it doesn't mean Rover couldn't get in trouble doing it. Good neighbor laws constitute practices that keep canines on the friendly side of the law. Gone are the days when you could let the dog out unsupervised to do its thing. Better to play it safe. After all, it is up to you to prove that you are a responsible owner, and that your dog is an asset to the neighborhood. Once you've given your neighbors cause to believe otherwise you may quickly find out how miserable your neighbors can make your life. First and foremost, know your dog. Know what agitates him, watch for aggressive behavior and NEVER encourage it by playing combative games. (The majority of dog bite victims are family members. Never "mean up" your dog to turn it into a watch dog!) On the contrary, properly socialize your dog, and let neighbors, especially their children, know what your dog will and will not tolerate. If your dog does bite-or even snap-talk to your vet right away. Dog bites are the most prevalent and expensive legal problem; take this warning seriously and keep your dog's nose out of the courtroom! The second most publicized pet problem has to do with irresponsible dog breeders. I'm talking about those owners who start with a female dog, and for one reason or another they neglect having her spayed. Within months Ginger is pregnant. Litter after litter, puppies are born, and given away, left to roam the neighborhood, or dumped. Unless you are a professional breeder with champion-quality purebreds, there is no good reason to breed your pet. Don't fall prey to the notion that Pookie needs a litter to feel fulfilled, or that Shasta will be a wimp if he is neutered. Above all, forget the idea that the kids will learn the miracle of life if their pet has a litter. Good, responsible pet owners always sterilize their animals. To further foster positive pet attitudes in your neighborhood, follow these general guidelines: never leave your pet outside unattended. Dogs left outside may bark, dig their way out of the yard, or menace passer-bys. Keep Baron confined when he's not on a leash. Always clean up after your pet, even in your own yard. A lawn dotted with dog feces raises eyebrows of even the most patient neighbor. Finally, attend obedience training for at least two sessions to teach Rex some manners. You may consider certifying Winnie with the Canine Good Citizen test when she is past six months old. Being aware and proactive about the legal side of dog ownership pays off for everyone in the end: dogs, their owners, law-makers, as well as the general public. Remember, it is your responsibility to show that dog ownership is respectable and responsible. The Power of Touch

By Dave Thomas Touch plays a very powerful part in the flirting game. If you get it right, a touch will advance your rapport with your date by leaps and bounds; time it wrongly and you've lost whatever chance you had. As you must touch eventually, it's vital to get it right! What you need to do is to learn exactly when you need to touch your date, and in what form that touch should take. You might decide to "accidentally" bump into the person in order to meet them; that a light brush of the upper arm is required, removing a cotton thread that may or may not be there; that taking your date's hand, and lightly stroking it is appropriate; or, perhaps, that no action at all is needed for now, because your date is not used to being touched! Perhaps you might decide on some other form of touching. You can usually tell by the body language of your date whether a touch would have the intended effect. If he/she is leaning in towards you, seems positively enthralled by your company, and is physically quite close to you, then chances are good that a touch would be welcome. At this time, any touching you do should be kept light, and you need to study the reaction. If you see your date suddenly tense up and start to look uncomfortable, you need to back off, slowly and gracefully, but without drawing undue attention to it. If your date seems to welcome the touch, then keep it going! Touching in a dating context provides feedback for your date; by touching him/her, you are implying that you think the date is going well, and that you fancy him/her. For this reason, and perhaps partly as a test of the man's confidence, the first touch is usually performed by the man. The woman will usually facilitate this when she is ready by positioning herself close to her date, but she probably won't want to appear too keen. However, there is no rule that says the first touch should always be initiated by men! For example, a woman who is quite keen on a man may "accidentally" brush up against him on his way to the toilet! Many people grew up in tactile families, and these enjoy being touched more; for these people, it is less important where the touch comes from. For them, a touch will have less power, simply because it is familiar; it is expected behaviour. Others grew up in non-tactile families, and these have to be comfortable with the person touching before they will even accept a touch. If you time it correctly and do not touch too soon, the touch performed on this type of person will have a much greater effect, simply because they are not used to it. Imagine sending a shiver down the spine of your date by touching him/her at the right moment! If you're a man on a typical dinner date, you would be well-advised to look out for this specific sign from the woman you're with. These are situations where she is keen on you, and demonstrates this by laying one of her arms across the table, so that her hand is on "your" side of it. Her arm and hand then remain quite still. If this happens, you need to take action and touch her hand, if you want to advance the flirting game! Don't think about it too much; just do it. If you're a woman on a typical dinner date, and don't want to seem too eager, you'll want to position one of your arms as I have outlined above. Along with good eye contact, a slight smile, and perhaps even a lick of your lips, these are excellent signs to send that you're ready to crank the flirting up a notch! David Thomas is a web publisher with a wide range of interests, including psychology and dating. He runs an online dating community web site where people add their own comments to the free advice given. It's a great place to learn! Turbulence Training - 3 Questions You Should Ask Before You Buy Turbulence Training

By Tim McIntyre Craig Ballantyne's Turbulence Training diet and fitness plan has certainly caused some waves in recent months. But before you get caught up in the hype and rush out and buy Turbulence Training, here is a list of three questions that you should ask yourself first. Don't buy Turbulence Training until you can answer yes to all of these questions. 1. Are you prepared to start a fitness and health plan that only involves doing exercise a few time a week? The core of the Turbulence Training plan is that the best way to get fit is to exercise only a few times a week. Rather than exercise in almost every day, instead you will exercise just a couple of times per week, but at a much higher intensity. Doing so will result in better results than if you exercise more regularly. This way of doing things may not suit everyone. If you enjoy going to the gym every day then you should probably not buy Craig Ballantyne's Turbulence Training fitness plan. 2. Do you really want to get fit and lose weight? Craig Ballantyne's Turbulence Training has been critically acclaimed, and has sold thousands of copies. And a lot of people who have bought Turbulence Training have lost a lot of weight and have gained a lot of muscle. But, as good as Craig Ballantynes's Turbulence Training is you will not get fit unless you are determined to do so. Getting fit is hard. If you are not determined to do it, then you won't succeed in achieving your goals. 3. Will you be able to stick to the Turbulence Training plan? Unlike other fitness plans, Craig Ballantyne's Turbulence Training only requires you to perform exercise a couple of times per week. This is the perfect diet and fitness plan for anyone who lives a busy lifestyle and who find it hard to get to the gym. But if you think that exercising a couple of times per week is too much then you probably shouldn't buy Turbulence Training. Craig Ballantyne's Turbulence Training really is the perfect fitness plan for busy people with little time to get to the gym,. If you are happy only exercising a few time per week, and if you really want to lose weight, and if you will be able to stick to the plan, then I'd strongly recommend that you buy Turbulence Training. Tim McIntyre runs the friendly Healthy Living blog which aims to spread free healthy living fitness news, views and articles as far and wide as possible. Choosing Healthy Plants for Your Garden

By Ronald F. Patterson When working at a nursery, you are supposed to be an expert on everything. Well, I work at a nursery and I sure don't know everything. However, I am considered an expert on certain plants, fertilizers, and habitats. Things happen fast this time of year and for the next few months. Flowers, trees and shrubs come and go as if there is a revolving door. Here today, gone tomorrow. Blooms fade in a matter of days. Plants get beat up by customers. ID tags are lost. Often I am asked to ID a certain plant and its growth habits. If you don't trust your local nurseryman or garden center workers, here are a few tips when buying annuals and perennials. When buying perennials, look for ID tags. What is the name of the plant, what growing conditions are required and what are the plants habits? But it has a pretty flower and I like it!
Will you like the same plant next year when it has invaded your prized lilies? The plant you bought was only 2 feet tall and in bloom, why is it 4 feet tall this year? ID tags will assist you in this. A nurseryman may not always know or be as helpful. You may have thought it was something else. Growers pinch or cut back plants to make them bushier and to produce more blooms. Ask questions and read tags. Look for plants that are budding, not in bloom. This way you enjoy the flowers longer. Look for multiple stems or stalks. Pull the plant out of the pot and check out the root system. Are the roots white and healthy looking? Is the plant pot bound and showing signs of stress?
Does the potting soil smell earthy or sour? Is it a plug from a 1qt. pot shoved into a 3qt. pot and selling at a premium price. Most nurseryman don't mind if you put the plant back in the pot. Annuals grow fast, their sole purpose in life is to reproduce and die. Look for annuals that are full of growth and buds. Is the tray a bit stalky? Look for new growth coming from the bottom of the plant stalk. If there are signs of new growth, then this is a healthy plant. You can cut the top off and the annual with fill out and bloom better then before. Keep deadheading for continual bloom. Continuous blooms will bring butterflies. Blooms also bring insects that bring birds. Zinnias are a prime example. Butterflies love zinnias. Tiny insects congregate in the blooms and you will find hummingbirds hovering over the flowers licking up these tiny bugs. I dead head perennials that are considered invasive and leave my natives for the birds. Some annuals will go to seed late in the season for my wildlife as well. Plant in groupings for color and to attract wildlife. Never pay full price for a perennial where there is no ID tag. Plant it in a trial bed to see what you may have for next year. You can always prune back a perennial and pinch back annuals to have bushier more productive plants. Some perennials will give you a second and third bloom if you deadhead while others still will continue to bloom all season if they don't go to seed. Plant native when possible, they are less reliant on artificial food and water. Plant for nature. Ron Patterson is a Michigan Certified Nurseryman and Wildlife
Habitat Naturalist. Ron combines his skills and expertise in plants and nature to help others garden for wildlife. Ron is also an avid backyard birder and writes a weekly newsletter "Backyard Birding Tips"
